The financial sector is essential to support the economic recovery through investments in healthcare, social programmes, and support packages. But finance must do more. We will discuss whether the pandemic has caused a change in the way we see the global and interconnected economy, and the role that financial services play in shaping a long-term resilient economy.

Wednesday, 28 October 2020 – DAY 2: The European Green Deal: What next?

The European Union has released its plans and first regulations under the Green Deal which aim for the Union to become climate neutral by 2050. Whether these new regulations are enough to push the financial sector into advancing long-termism and to accelerate the market uptake of sustainable finance remains to be seen. The discussion will focus on what the next steps in the European Green Deal are since the EU taxonomy legislation has passed in 2020, if and how investors and asset managers will use the new framework, and if there are other tools that also help them make their investment decisions.
