Starting from the evening of March 23, and lasting two full days, the 16 future digital leaders “hacked” their concepts aimed at financial health. They were supported throughout the event by Sergio Coronado, chief coach of the LTS, and a range of mentors from the financial industry passing on knowledge, providing advice and feedback such as Chris Edge (PwC), Bert Boerman (Governance.com), Geoff Radcliffe (Black Rock), Ronen Tzur (Quantify), Ross Thomson (FundRock), Susan Coleman (PwC), Laurent Denayer (UME), Diane Tea, Alina Golovkova (Allen & Overy), Olivier Zwick (Clifford Chance), and more.
Demonstrating creativity, vision and agility, the students pitched on Sunday afternoon, showcasing their versions of the ‘Financial Game of Life’ in front of a jury of experts: Chris Edge (PwC), Oliver Weber (PwC), Nasir Zubairi (LHoFT), Noel Fessey (EFA) and Cristina Ferreira (State Street). The jury highlighted the high quality of the solutions and the incredible ability of this young generation, future customers of and potentially leaders in financial services, to adapt.
This new edition of the LTS Hackathon was as brilliant and full of energy as last year. The 1rst winning team will have the chance to pitch its project at the ALFI Conference in London on 3rd of May.
Dr. Sergio Coronado, chief coach of the LTS commented: “The students continue to surprise us with their ideas and capacity to create concrete solutions in record time! Robotics and AI is developing fast and we have the responsibility to provide, this coming generations, with the necessary tools to develop these technologies for good. Our students demonstrated, in this event, that they are ready to drive their future, our future for good”
Chris Edge, Managing Director (Corporate Services) PwC, added: “We are delighted at PwC to create and support this bridge between the incredible creativeness, energy and free thinking of digital educated students, and today’s business world, so we develop tomorrow’s influencers, disrupters and enablers. The energy, enthusiasm, desire to learn we saw this weekend is inspiring to watch. These students have busy lives and exams to worry about, yet they sacrifice their time to learn…. they learn by doing, by trying, by experimenting, by failing……getting up and trying again. I admire them.”
Alex Panican, Head of partnerships & ecosystem at the LHoFT, added: “We are very happy to support such a brilliant initiative. The projects we saw this weekend were great and we were particularly impressed by the students’ technical aptitudes on AI, their drive and their capacity to transform, under 54 hours, an idea into a working prototype. Big thumbs up to the Luxembourg Tech School team, Sergio and his coaches are the shapers of the future digital leaders. Thank you to the PwC Luxembourg that has been an amazing host, providing us with the best venue, food and technology the whole weekend. And a warm thank you to all the mentors who gave their time and provided priceless guidance to the teams.”
Anouk Agnes, Deputy General Director at ALFI, concluded: “All five teams proved to have a good understanding of the challenges that the financial industry faces today and tackled important themes like investor education, savings or taking care of one’s own financial well-being. The students’ ideas are fresh, ingenious and likely to speak to the next generation of investors. ALFI is pleased to offer them the possibility to pitch their projects in London in marge of one of ALFI’s biggest annual events, the ALFI London conference, taking place on 2 and 3 May at the Central Hall Westminster.”
