As a part of LHoFT Talent Month, we’re approaching the issue of recruiting technology talent from all angles. What do Luxembourg Fintech companies offer potential recruits? What do they look for in candidates? This time, we spoke to Olivier Debeugny, CEO of Lingua Custodia
What are the important factors to consider when hiring in a Fintech?
What makes technology work? Women and men! When we recruit at Lingua Custodia, technological or technical skills are key, but soft skills are essential: team spirit, initiative and curiosity.
The Fintech ecosystem is in constant evolution, the technology must permit durable innovation and positively contribute to the acceleration of the industry with clear and pragmatic objectives.
We apply Machine Learning to financial translation because it allows financial institutions to get better, faster and cheaper financial translations.

What positively differentiates your company for potential recruits?
Our DNA! Researchers, data scientists, linguists, project managers, former finance professionals, all dedicated to our entrepreneurial project.
Passionate about the potential of Deep Learning (our R&D team published two research articles recently), and all committed to defining concrete applications that meet our customers’ needs exactly. Such an attitude is generally present in all Fintech, it is a dynamic industry that drives positive projects but we can truly say at Lingua Custodia that we are #happyatwork!
What makes Luxembourg an attractive destination for tech talent?
The LHoFT! In all seriousness, the LHoFT owes its thriving existence and incredible activity to Luxembourg’s rich and dynamic Fintech ecosystem. We are a French company and we have chosen to open our first foreign office in Luxembourg. Why? of course because our machine translation engines meet the needs of Luxembourg’s financial institutions, but also because we won a Fintech Award delivered by KPMG last year and the LHoFT opened wide the doors to help us settle in.
And while we are on the subject of recruitment, we are actively looking for a Global Head of Sales in charge of Lingua Custodia’s international business development strategy, based in Luxembourg. He or she will also be responsible for opening and developing our new subsidiary here. If you are interested in contributing directly to the development of a growing Fintech, contact us!
